In Westminster, Street Tree raised funds through the Landfill Tax Credit Scheme to plant 180 trees throughout the boroughs streets. This was subsequently matched by Westminster to plant a further 180.
Unfortunately in 2005 the funding of street trees was discontinued under new guidelines issued by Entrust, regulators of the Landfill Communities Fund.
Autumn/Winter 2007-8
Phase 2 completion of the Fitzrovia Urban Forest, saw 20 new street trees planted north of Oxford St, bringing the total we have planted in the area to more than 50. Species included Maple, Birch and Pear.
We planted approximately 100 new street trees over 4 different boroughs - Westminster, Camden, Newham and Hammersmith and Fulham with funding from Rebecca Hossack and Delancey Plc.
More generally there has been a great deal of interest in the numbers of street trees that we are losing in London and we welcome the decision by the Mayor of London to fund the planting of 10,000 new street trees.

We have had a long association with Tower Hamlets running a number of projects during the past 8 years, the last project saw over 140 street trees planted in the borough. The project was centred on the area around Arnold Circus an old housing estate between Brick Lane and Shoreditch High St. Although the central roundabout had some huge plane trees, many of the roads that radiated off from it were completely treeless. We planted native species including Field Maple and Alder.
